History  - The Alumni Association was formed in 1999 after the second Citizen's Academy was completed. The first Academy was held in the fall of 1997 under the direction of Sheriff Guy Williams.  NOTE - There was no class in 2004 due to budgetary constraints. Our new Sheriff, Tommy Gage (2005), has made clear his commitment to the continuation of this program.

Academy Attendance - Applications to attend the Academy can be obtained from Corporal Joel Gordon at the Sheriff's Department or from members of the Alumni Association. Purpose - The purpose of the Association is to bring together graduates of the Academy to enhance the relationship between the community and the Sheriff's Department. The Association participates in activities that benefit law enforcement efforts, and specifically those of the Sheriff's Department. This may include fund raisers, supplemental manpower needs at community events, and general volunteer efforts that assist the department in fulfilling its mission. As a result of its fundraising efforts the Association has been able to donate needed essentials such as body armor and utility vests for the SOG team. Discussions and proposals began in 2003 to increase the involvement of the Alumni into Department activities and it is expected that this will begin happening in 2004 or 2005.   NOTE:  In 2004 two alumni members, Karen Ham and Brian Thorn, attended and passed the Basic Crime Prevention class (TCLEOSE #2101) conducted by the Department's Training Academy. It is expected that after certification is received that these members will be able to assist the Crime Prevention department by conducting Homeowner's Insurance Rate Reduction surveys. Meetings - The Association's General Membership meets once per month at 6:30 PM on the third Monday of each month at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Clint Peoples Training Academy, Criminal Justice Drive, Conroe, Tx 77301.
