March 4, 2022 - Several members of MCSCAAA provided support for a recruiting event by MCSO held at the North Montgomery Community Center on Friday, March 4, 2022. This event, the first of its kind, involved 108 students from ten Montgomery County high schools enrolled in a criminal justice/ law enforcement program. The students were given an orientation to several of the services provided by MCSO, and feedback from the students was very favorable.
Volunteer duties were focused primarily on feeding the hungry crowd, as close to 300 hot dogs with chips and cookies were devoured by the students and teachers in attendance. Pat Shannon headed up a great team of enthusiastic volunteers. Loretta Geick organized the kitchen duties and was assisted by Amy Byers, Waylon Brooks, and Myra Womack. Gary Jones and Foy Day did most of the hot dog grilling, with assistance from Pat and Steve Squier, while Terry Maddeaux (currently participating in the Sheriff Citizens Academy Class 2022.1 training classes) provided support to both the kitchen and grilling teams. A special thanks goes to MCSO Sergeant Russell for use of his extra-large grill, which made it easy to keep up with the demand for hot dogs!
